The non-profit organization Stellar Development Foundation will conduct an airdrop of 2 billion XLM tokens (approximately $ 118 million) among Keybase messenger users.

The non-profit organization Stellar Development Foundation will conduct an airdrop of 2 billion XLM tokens (approximately $ 118 million) among Keybase messenger users.

According to Stellar, this is the largest coin distribution in the history of the project. Coins will be allocated to participants in batches of 100 million XLM over the next 20 months.

“All you have to do is have an authenticated Keybase account, and your XLM will appear in your wallet – automatically, every month, for as long as the airdrop continues,” says the Stellar blog.

The company representatives also noted that the airdrop would be guaranteed to run for three months. After that, Stellar will decide whether to continue or not, taking into account the "key success indicators" of the campaign.

Keybase received an investment from the Stellar Development Foundation in 2018. A few years earlier, the blockchain startup had raised $ 10.8 million in venture capital investments in a round of financing led by Andreessen Horowitz.

The integration of Stellar and Keybase took place in May 2019 and since then messenger users have been able to send XLM tokens to each other. The developers promise in the coming months to add a number of new features to the messenger.

So far, the number of Keybase users has reached 300 thousand. It should be noted that the tendency to integrate crypto assets into various messengers and social networks is is growing. For example, by the end of October, the large-scale Telegram Open Network project should be launched, and in 2020, the largest social network Facebook is going to launch its own digital currency, Libra.
