The Bakkt cryptocurrency platform has confirmed the start of trading bitcoin futures on the operator's own market of the New York Stock Exchange Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).

The Bakkt cryptocurrency platform has confirmed the start of trading bitcoin futures on the operator's own market of the New York Stock Exchange Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).

Contracts offered by the platform will allow market participants to bet on the change in the price of bitcoin in future and receive calculations in cryptocurrency, which distinguishes them from the existing regulated futures of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) that allow you to receive only the fiat equivalent of earned bitcoins.

The first trade was executed at 8:02 pm ET at a price of $10,115, Bakkt said in a statement.

"Bakkt Bitcoin futures are actively trading on ICE Futures U.S., while Bakkt Warehouse continues to accept deposits in bitcoins. We take customer trust seriously and are happy to serve this market," the platform representatives added.

In August, Bakkt CEO Kelly Loeffler announced that after undergoing the self-certification procedure, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) gave permission to launch the platform.

At the time of publication, the monthly futures trading volume since the launch of the instrument was 18 BTC (one contract corresponds to 1 BTC).

The first cryptocurrency at the same time was trading just above $ 9900.
