EOS block manufacturers have activated version 1.8 of the EOSIO protocol.

The large-scale update required the first hard fork on the network, which was successfully held at 4:00 p.m. (GMT) on Monday, September 23.

The release included consensus protocol updates # 6831 and # 7167, as well as a set of protocol functions that are activated independently of each other:

  • REACTIVATE_FEATURE. Enabling protocol pre-activation - activated first.
  • ONLY_LINK_TO_EXISTING_PERMISSION (# 6831). Banning links to non-existent permission.
  • REPLACE_DEFERRED (# 6997, # 7185). Fixing deferred transaction issues.
  • NO_DUPLICATE_DEFERRED_ID (# 7072, # 7173, activation is associated with REPLACE_DEFERRED). Eliminating conflicts of deferred transaction identifiers.
  • FIX_LINKAUTH_RESTRICTION (# 7025). Fixing excessive EOSIO restrictions.
  • DISALLOW_EMPTY_PRODUCER_SCHEDULE (# 7026). Prohibition of offering an empty production schedule.
  • RESTRICT_ACTION_TO_SELF (# 7088). Restricting authorization checks when sending actions to yourself.
  • ONLY_BILL_FIRST_AUTHORIZER (# 7089). Billing for CPU usage and network bandwidth only to the first transaction authorizer.
  • FORWARD'SETCODE (#7109). Changing the method of sending an action (setcode).
  • GET'SENDER (#7111). Allowing smart contracts to determine which account is the sender of the built-in action.
  • RAM_RESTRICTIONS (# 7131). Changing restrictions for RAM billing.

The EOS block manufacturers will discuss the status of the update on Tuesday, September 24, during the weekly conference.

Despite the successful hard fork, the price of the digital currency at the time of writing decreased by 4% for a day (CoinMarketCap data).
