The Bitcoin ransomware has spread across the network, masquerading as a letter of application of employment.

The Bitcoin ransomware has spread across the network, masquerading as a letter of application of employment. This is reported by the computer security resource BleepingComputer.

The letters on behalf of a Eva Richter contain photos and resumes in the form of a PDF file. The latter is actually Ordinypt malware. It encrypts the victim's files and demands a ransom of 0.1473766 BTC (almost $1500).

Files will not be decrypted even in case of ransom payment to fraudsters, experts emphasized. They are rewritten and encrypted again. BleepingComputer specialists noted that the virus is aimed at attacking users from Germany.

It should be mentioned that in July, Kaspersky Lab discovered a virus-encryptor exploiting a zero-day vulnerability in Windows and requiring a ransom in bitcoins.
